We have slaughtered millions of people in many wars for a multitude of different reasons… We have created marvels of technology… We have engineered organisms… We have defeated diseases… We have killed off species of plants and animals.. Good or Bad we have done it all…
So why wouldn’t you view the world through an objective lens… 
Meaning…not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased… opinions are wonderful we all have them… The beauty of being human is we are all afforded our own opinion.  Today i will do my very best to view the world through an objective lens, a lens that I can choose to focus or leave blurry.. When focused I can see the meaning the truth, when unfocused I only see the picture as a blurry whole.  I could use some more focus how about you?   Focus on your workout and what is going on in your head today not what’s going on around you.. Focus on your goals!

Starting off on 3rd base!  The easy way to get results…

Sounds great doesn’t it…  If you know anything about baseball you know a triple is the next best thing to a home run….. We all want to hit home runs… Better yet we all want to score runs… 

Unfortunately we live in a world where people are led to believe that you start on 3rd base…

Hitting a triple is pretty hard if you know baseball, there are a lot of variables that go into hitting a triple.. The ball needs to be hit into a precise spot on the field where it will take the outfielder a longer time to get to it and the player who hits it needs to be fast… Either way it is difficult.

My point is we have to start where everyone else does on the bench with the hopes of the coach allowing us to take a swing…

No one gets to start on 3rd unless they are a pinch runner and piggy back on someone else’s hard work… That is not fulfilling..

Takes the journey to hit your own triple put the time in for your results… It will be much more fulfilling I promise… If you want start on 3rd do me a favor and don’t ask for my help… MTFU and earn it!

“I suck”
“I can’t”

I am sure you guys have your very own personal voice and way you talk to yourself.
I wanted to challenge you today to perform a task that normally would have you second guessing yourself… A task that would have you make excuses as to why you can’t do it…

My favorite thing in the world is… knowing that without failure there can be no success… and applying that to situations that would have the weak me not attempt…

Whistle While You WORK!?????????

That is crazy, why would anyone whistle while doing work…

One - is it makes work that much more fulfilling…

Two - work becomes enjoyable when you do…

Three - you have to do it anyways so why not make it pleasant…

I can go on and on, you get the point though… I have clients that have every different attitude when approaching work… Some bitch and moan (we try to weed them out quickly)… Some make agonizing faces… Some smile and say I love it…

As far as I am concerned there is only 2 ways to be, Miserable or Triumphant… Negative or Positive… Right or Wrong.

You can work in misery or work as if you are overcoming great oppression…

You can work in agony or work in harmony…

Moral is the choice is yours and, IT IS A CHOICE!

My grandmother always said “whistle while you work” and it annoyed me until I got older and saw the wisdom in the words… Disney has the right idea, go back and watch some of these gems the messages are timeless…

Why is real training a fight?

Wanted to clarify the main reasons why we call aspects of the workout what we do…

Pre-Fight is designed to prepare you for the Fight that lies ahead it is strength/skill and needs to be taken seriously if you want to perform at your best… PR’s should be made and confidence needs to be built during this stage in order to give you the tools to perform the Main Event at your very best… Your pre fight should include at home work too.. Mobility, working on weakness etc.

The Main Event- Metabolic Conditioning/WOD/Forging Mental Toughness… We all struggle at some point or another during this grueling task… The true fight is not with the weight, time or the person next to you… The True FIGHT lies within your mind… How much can you fight off your subconscious urge to slow down, take a break, get water or even quit… 

This is truly what should make your training different from the drones on the treadmill and ellipticals… You have an internal battle raging inside… All of you myself included can be doing better… Don’t settle keep pushing the envelope and your progress will never halt…

Take a deep breath and set a goal for your next workout what will you conquer?

How to fill your MTFU Tank in the morning?
If you are being proactive that’s great!  It will not last unless you keep pushing for it to… I know many people myself included who have fallen victim to being “proactively stale”… This is one I just made up but makes a lot of sense when you think about it…
Okay so think about yourself being in a proactive Ferrari it is red and super fast… You are cruising down the parkway at 90mph suddenly all of those 500 horses stop moving… The car coasts for a while until finally coming to a stop… Then you are passed by the Pinto that was taking forever to get up to speed after the toll booth…
What happened??? Here is what happened you forgot to fill up the tank and you ran out of gas… The gas tank is your own personal MTFU tank… and like the gas tank in a car you need to keep filling this tank up otherwise you will eventually run out and coast to a stop…
This state of being “Proactively Stale” comes when you coast too long…
I mean I have been going to the gym for 5 days straight doing the same routine stale!
I have been eating the same stuff day in and day out stale!
So sometimes being proactive is not enough once a week we need to get a daily fill of the proactive juices…
One of my clients wakes up to the Eye of the Tiger song as an alarm…
I have many people including myself that take cold showers in the AM… What a way to feel like you are going to crush the day…
These are just a couple ways to break up the mundane the staleness of life and to keep your MTFU tank full.. remember you can only coast for a little then it all stops… Keep the proactive juices flowing research, read, watch videos, read blogs, there is so much out there to motivate yourself look for it and DO IT NOW!
5 steps to fill up your MTFU Tank Every Morning…
Wake up and put on your headphones play an epic track off one of your favorite movies blast it and envision yourself conquering your lifetime goal! these are a few of my favorites… The Pacific Main Theme… Batman Begins The Will To ACT
Get up and stretch like a dog does for a couple minutes… see video here.
Bang out some push ups and squats to get the blood flowing.. Set a record everyday!
Hop in the shower when it is fully on cold start with the lower body then work your way  up until you finally put your head under.  Hold your breath and fight the urge to exhale.  If you can make a giant war face watch this to get an idea of what a war face is.
Make a recording of your voice, and tell yourself who you are and what your purpose is… Examples should include your completed goals spoken in present tense… The way you want to feel and what you have accomplished even if you haven’t yet… start with something like this “I am the master of my universe, I am the captain of my ship, I’m going to show you how great I am.. watch Ali and think about how this speech is helping him to defeat Foreman..
Try these out for a week make it a habit and always MTFU.

2 easy ways to get whatever you want!  Follow this strategy and achieve success in any endeavor.
So easy a caveman can do it!!!
Well we seem to make things very complicated in our advanced modern society… So much so that seemingly easy tasks become complicated… I am not a huge Star Wars fan but Yoda was a cool character and had life all figured out.. It seems any guru that is renowned has a simple outlook and puts things into terms that anyone can understand…
I am not calling myself a guru but believe that it is simple and as long as you keep it that way you will be just fine… That’s why I love the MTFU lifestyle it makes you  stop abruptly and think… It is Raw and Real… Not sugar coated just like the world.. 
There is no points for second place and you don’t get credit for what you are supposed to do.. You get more when you do MORE!  You get what you deserve! Not what you think you deserve no one owes you anything… Life is not easy it is hard.. The beauty of it is you have a choice to DO or DO NOT.. There is no in between..

Forward progress… Building up… sounds like human development to me.  Well it is, I want to talk about personal development… Whether it is mental, physical, spiritual or whatever… Think about the video and how when no longer groomed or maintained our structures, backyards, houses etc. become dilapidated and crumble. 

This is what happens to us when we don’t work on ourselves… Look at the difference between older people who are still active and the ones who are sedentary.. Look at the difference between the kids who are in the house stuck on the tube and the ones who have many friends and do activities…

I think you understand the point… The point is if you aren’t moving forward then you are falling behind and essentially moving backward… Think of a race a marathon.. 26.2 miles some run it very fast and some slow.. Some end up walking it and some crawl to the finish.. All these people have one thing in common they are moving in the right direction.. The person who is in the race and quits or stops to take a nap even if he can sprint faster than the rest for a short period.. Will never come close to the rest of the people who are constantly moving forward..

The tortoise and the hare is a prime example of this… If you don’t remember this story look it up… So my main point for you to ponder is…If you are not building up and not tearing down, what are you doing?  If you are not moving forward and not moving backward, where are you going?  You are moving backward if you are not moving forward plain and simple.. Sedentary gets grown over and dilapidated..

Sustained Effort and the Rewards it Brings!

First off Laird Hamilton is a BEAST hands down… I was thinking about waves… I grew up 2 blocks from the beach and have been in or around the ocean my whole life… I have studied Marine Science from K through 5th grade… As my town had a special program for it.. I took Oceanography college classes on Sandy Hook.. So I have a little background when it come to the Ocean.. That is not the point the point is how to MAN THE FUCK UP…

When thinking on how a wave is formed and how it relates to performance and success… They are one in the same…  A pebble dropped into a puddle creates a small ripple wave because it was a pebble… A strong wind that is sustained for a long time creates massive waves…

This is what your goals will build to if your effort is “SUSTAINED”!  It takes time and the night is usually darkest before dawn, but that’s when everyone else quits!  Where do you wanna be? 

Building up a giant beast wave, or a little ripple in a puddle? The choice is yours…

At 3:55 in the video Billy Hamilton asks Laird why he rides waves like this?
